When theatre tells a story: Japanese Kamishibai theatre
Typ:
Community
Kamishibai is a form of traditional Japanese street theatre that was first presented in Tábor by Gerhard Jäger (BE), the founder of ABC studio, at the Tabook festival. In this lesson, we will talk about Japan and put on a theatre play that is rooted in traditional Japanese culture while also being reminiscent of our local fairy tales. The children get to create their own stories;
they learn about storytelling, how and why stories are created, and who tells them and for what reason. Their creativity and artistic expression are developed.

A mini festival full of everything you want to know about the online world but are too scared to ask.
We choose the most interesting and current topics: how to help your children develop a healthy relationship with technology, how to occasionally take a break from the online world — we respond to trends that resonate with society.
Our programmes are aimed at children, school children, adolescents, parents and senior citizens as well.
We try to spread awareness about the possibilities and risks of the online world and build a basis for critical thinking and a sober attitude towards modern technologies.

The šifT puzzle hunt is a traditional event held by the Tábor Municipal Library. Every year, teams from all over the Czech Republic come here to enjoy a day full of competition, solving ingenious ciphers, overcoming themselves and discovering interesting places that they would never get to see otherwise.
The Tábor puzzle hunt is a great way to get your body moving, fire up your brain and have fun in the fresh air with a bunch of friends. Teams of 2-4 members aged 14-99 can participate with the only conditions of enthusiasm and courage to face the challenges.

This programme aimed at pupils in grades 5-9 consists in interpreting literary texts using the Philosophy for Children method, which uses the natural curiosity and playfulness of children and adults to examine important ethical or philosophical questions.
These meetings are very spontaneous. We start by getting to know each other and talking with the children, then we read an excerpt from a book and the children look for a topic related to it that interests them. The children learn to listen to each other and share ideas with others, develop their perceptive abilities, critical thinking and creativity.
We read from three books:
- Wonder, Palacio, R. J.;
- Lists In a Bottle: A story about Irena Sendler, Czerwińska-Rydel, A.;
- The Happy Prince, Oscar Wilde.
