Backpack of experiences
Typ:
Kids
A backpack of experiences is an actual backpack full of games, books, worksheets, tips for trips, ideas, interesting facts and instructions for various activities, for which you don't need Internet connection or other gadgets, everything you need is inside. Backpacks with experiences are not only fun, they also offer a playful form of learning, experiments and new information. They are intended for parents with children over 5 years of age.
Topics: dinosaurs, seasons, a trip round the world, birds, space, transportation, trees, insects, the weather, plants, fungi, trees and the human body. Some activities are suitable for the home, while others invite you to take a trip into nature.
Experience backpacks offer activities, games and books with a specific topic. The parent (or grandparent) and child gain new knowledge and experience things together, spending time together actively. This distracts them from mobile phones and computers for a while, and saves adults the time and energy needed to come up with activities and find books on a certain topic.
Book Play with Eda (Knížkohraní s Edou)

Kids
Knížkohraní s Edou is a workbook for children aged 3-6 and their parents, the aim of which is to support reading and develop a positive relationship with books from an early age. The tasks in Knížkohrání support the development of pre-reading skills, and they develop children's vocabulary, their fantasy and imagination, motor skills, attention, visual and auditory perception, and more, in a playful way. The children acquire new information and skills while performing the activities.
Knížkohraní s Edou was followed by a second workbook entitled Knížkohraní s Emou. Each workbook contains 12 different topics, and each topic has a list of recommended books and two tasks.
The first Knížkohraní workbook was created in response to the lockdown during the Covid pandemic. Libraries and schools were closed, and the aim was to offer parents an activity that will help them teach preschool children and recommend appropriate books. At one time, we were only allowed to deliver books to people; this was later followed by a small dispensing window, and especially parents of small children had difficulty choosing books for their children from our online catalogue. We liked this as an alternative to everything that was moved to the online environment. Because it was successful, the following year we created the workbook Book Play with Ema (Knížkohraní s Emou).
Mug swap

Sustainability
Tea or coffee mugs could be exchanged in the library for one month. People were given the opportunity to donate mugs they no longer use that others may find use for, in exchange for which they could take a different mug.
This can also be applied to other small items or clothing. It depends on the space in the library.
Many of us have things that are taking up space in our homes but we don't want to throw them out when they could be of use to someone else.
Some readers were taken back to their grandmothers' place, where they saw such mugs. Even people who don't borrow our books visited our library for the first time, or after many years.
Documentary showing in the library
Typ:
Sustainability
These are freely available documentaries from Promítej i ty!, which is supported by the festival Jeden svět, the largest showing of documentary films about human rights in the world.
As the festival Jeden svět is not held in Česká Třebová, we want to show selected documentaries to citizens of the town and open up complex and challenging topics that may not be discussed very often elsewhere. The showing of documentaries in a library allows people to meet and discuss the given topic after they watch the documentary.
We showed the documentaries The North Drift - Plastik in Strömen, Descent, The Self Portrait, Non-Parent, Granny Project and Over the Limit.
Library of things

In addition to books, magazines and audiobooks, the library has also been renting out board games with great success for several years. Why not rent a picnic basket or a badminton set in the same way?
The first items in the library of things primarily belong to the entertainment, sports and leisure category. These are outdoor games such as petanque, slacklining, darts, badminton sets, a small ping pong table and rackets, a picnic blanket and basket, and more. We want to gradually expand the items on offer.
We support the ideas of minimalism, sharing economy and sustainable development. We don't want to buy things that we will use once and then just let them sit in our home, collecting dust and taking up space for most of the year.
We were inspired by a world in which libraries of things have been operating for years. People are saving money and space in their homes.
